*** Top 2.5% Podcast *** Do you want to heal the childhood trauma wounds that are holding you back and keeping you from confidently living the life God wants you to live? Does your trauma history keep you crippled by fear, unable to discern and trust God’s plan, process, and purpose for your life? The effects of childhood trauma can show up as low moods, negative thoughts, overthinking, anxiety, crippling fear, low self-worth, physical illness, constant comparison, or emotional disconnection. I’ve been there. Hey sister-friend 👋🏽 Welcome to the Shades of Trauma Healing Podcast. A space for Christian women of all beautiful shades to experience trauma healing, move beyond blocks and begin fully living the life God is calling them to live. I’m so glad you’re here 😊 I’m Jenniel, a dearly loved daughter of God, trauma thriver, trauma therapist, and life coach, living out my purpose. The impacts of my childhood trauma remained unaddressed for years. I struggled through life, feeling stuck, unsafe, sensitive to threats of danger, and emotionally disconnected from God and the people around me. I desperately wanted to know and live out my purpose but had difficulty hearing God and figuring it out. I pursued education, career goals, ministry, and travelled, trying to find my place and call in this world. I thought had to do more things, but no matter what I did, I still felt unsure of who I was and what I was meant to do. I finally realized that the key to becoming who God wanted me to be started with facing my trauma wounds and pursuing holistic healing so I could remove the obstacles that prevented me from hearing God and experiencing life fully. As I healed from the emotional and somatic impacts of childhood trauma, my relationship with God improved, and I gained clarity about who I am and who God wanted me to be. I began to thrive. Today, I’m the most emotionally and spiritually healthy version of myself. I’m embracing more joy and laughter, and I’m living God’s call on my life as I walk in relationship with him. If you want to overcome the childhood trauma wounds that are holding you back… If you want to develop your ability to trust God and begin thriving in the life he is calling you to live… This podcast is for you. Here you’ll receive 🌟Trauma education to help identify and address the impacts of childhood trauma that keep you stuck. 🌟Mindset strategies and relational tips to help you develop your connection with others. 🌟Spiritual applications to help you deepen your trust and connection with God so you can gain clarity and discernment 🌟Motivational stories from other survivors so you see that you can heal and thrive after childhood trauma. My healing journey led me to address the emotional, spiritual, social, and neurological impacts and wounds caused by trauma, and this resulted in freedom like I’ve never known. And I’d love to share what I learned and experienced with you! We will approach trauma healing while walking together with God, The One who loves you most and wants you to heal and live an abundant life of joy, peace, and purpose. Today God is saying to you, his daughter… “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10. God’s got you, sister-friend, so let’s do this. Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
Many survivors of childhood trauma focus on what was done to them and the people who hurt them. They believe the key to healing, feeling joy and love is to have the person who wronged them confess, ask for their forgiveness, and make amends. These actions certainly help with the healing process, and thankfully, it is not the only way.
Today, I will share with you the Surprisingly Overlooked Path to Attaining Joy, Love, and Discernment.
I hope this episode blesses you.
Blessings and Love 😊

31 | Dreading Valentine’s Day? 6 Strategies to Use if You Get Triggered
Monday Feb 12, 2024
Monday Feb 12, 2024
Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
In 2 days, the world will be celebrating Valentine's Day. Many women (and men, to be fair) look forward to February 14th because they get to spend time with their loved ones, sharing a favourite activity, exchanging gifts and upping the love quotient. For many other women who struggled with childhood trauma, especially when the trauma formed in a close relationship, Valentine’s Day can be filled with triggers and unwanted feelings of sadness, loneliness, shame, fear or even anger.
During Valentines, survivors of childhood trauma can experience triggers such as intrusive thoughts, disturbing memories or images, flashbacks, nightmares and even physiological and emotional reactions.
My sister, if you are dreading Valentine's Day, I hope this episode supports and blesses you as I share some strategies on how to move through this event with emotional balance.
I hope this episode blesses you.
Blessings and Love 😊

29 | Connect With Your Inner Child By Using This Additional Exercise
Monday Jan 29, 2024
Monday Jan 29, 2024
Show Notes
Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
Children learn and develop by playing. When they are allowed to play, they get to explore new things, develop different skills, step outside their comfort zones, and have carefree fun. When there is no pressure or criticism to the play, we seek their creativity to come out, and for any observer, you get a few giggles at the shared joy they experience. This is the third episode in the inner child series. In episode 27, we looked at foundational concepts of the inner child; last week, in episode 28, I introduced you to the two-handed written dialogue exercise designed to connect you with your inner child. If this is your first time with me, or you missed those two episodes, pause now and listen to those episodes so you get the most benefit from what I’ll be sharing today.
Today, we’ll look at more exercises in the creative activity’s realm to help you connect with and heal your inner child.
I hope this episode blesses you.
Healing and Love 😊

27 | Why Nurturing Your Inner Child is Essential to Healing Trauma
Monday Jan 15, 2024
Monday Jan 15, 2024
Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
Today, we begin to explore the concept of the inner child, which is one of my favorite topics.
We’ll define who the inner child is and talk about the benefits of getting to know your inner child and why letting them show up is essential to healing your trauma.
This is an important topic because, for many women, the inner child has been suppressed, dismissed or denied. When this happens, it affects how you show up in your adult life. You need to have a healthy inner child experience to have a healthy adult life.
I’ll share some examples of how I got to know and embrace my inner child. I’ll cover the inner child in two episodes by going into the “what and how” today, and next week, I will share some practical exercises you can use to get to know your inner child.
I hope this episode supports you.
Blessings and Love 😊

Happy New Year Sister-Friend 👋🏽
I hope you had a blessed Christmas week and managed to strike the balance between rest and fun. I had a lovely holiday; I spent time with my favourite people and doing my favourite activities, which included cozying up in front of the fireplace and watching reruns of my favourite Christmas movies. I did have a good balance between socializing and sleeping, and I am blessed to be here with you, starting the new year off together.
The new year is a time when people tend to make resolutions for what they want to do, and as you think about what’s next, you might have some disappointment around things you did not accomplish in 2023.
Having unmet goals does not feel good; depending on the trauma history, it can cause you to feel like a failure or affect your self-esteem and your outlook on life. When the self-esteem begins to wane, it impacts how you show up in different areas of life. Then the internal conversation starts, those little mental gremlins that quickly suggest you are not good enough, or not trying hard enough, or you will never get to where you want to go.
In this episode, we’ll explore three steps to deal with that disappointment and in the next episode we will look at strategies to ensure 2024 is better for you.
I hope this episode supports you.
Blessings and Love 😊
