Hey, Sister-friend šš½
Ā
Letās talk about depression.
Ā
A depressive episode is where you experience intense sadness and low mood, and you lose interest and pleasure in activities that normally bring you joy for at least 2 weeks.
Some of the symptoms include:
- Persistent sadness or empty mood.
- Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed.
- Changes in appetite or weight.
- Sleep disturbances (insomnia or oversleeping).
- Fatigue or loss of energy.
- Feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt.
- Difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or remembering things.
- Irritability or restlessness.
- Thoughts of death or suicide.
To name a fewā¦
Ā
Depression can be caused by a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors. Ā Just as we are all different, the specific causes of a depressive episode will vary from person to person, because it's often a complex interplay of these common factors.
Ā
In faith circles, people often ascribe depression to a lack of faith or prayer. Today, I want to explore this perspective and offer an alternative view that is more holistic and supportive when dealing with depression.
Ā
I hope this episode blesses you.
