Shades of Trauma Healing | Childhood Trauma, Trust Issues, Coping Skills, Growth Mindset, Trust God, Discernment, Purpose
*** Top 2.5% Podcast*** Do you want to heal the childhood trauma wounds that are holding you back from living out your calling? Is the impact of childhood trauma keeping you from confidently living the life God wants you to live? Does your trauma history keep you crippled by fear, yet you want to learn to trust others, trust God’s plan, process, and purpose for your life instead? The effects of childhood trauma can show up as low moods, negative thoughts, overthinking, anxiety, crippling fear, low self-worth, constant comparison, or emotional and spiritual disconnection. I’ve been there. Hey sister-friend 👋🏽 Welcome to the Shades of Trauma Healing Podcast. A space for Christian women of all beautiful shades to experience trauma healing and begin fully living the life God is calling them to live. I’m so glad you’re here 😊 I’m Jenniel, a dearly loved daughter of God, trauma thriver, trauma therapist, and life coach, living out my purpose. As a child, I faced traumatic experiences, and the impact of my trauma remained unaddressed for years. I struggled through life, feeling stuck, unsafe, sensitive to threats of danger, and emotionally disconnected from God and the people around me. I tried to control situations as much as possible because I wanted to feel safe. I desperately wanted to know and live out my purpose but had difficulty hearing God and figuring it out. I pursued education, career goals, ministry, and travelled, trying to find my place and call in this world. I thought had to do more things, but no matter what I did, I still felt unsure of who I was and what I was meant to do. I finally realized that the key to becoming who God wanted me to be started with facing my trauma wounds and pursuing holistic healing so I could remove the obstacles that prevented me from hearing God and experiencing life fully. As I healed from the emotional and somatic impacts of childhood trauma, my relationship with God improved, and I gained clarity about who I am and who God wanted me to be. I began to thrive. Today, I’m the most emotionally and spiritually healthy version of myself. I’m embracing more joy and laughter, and I’m living God’s call on my life as I walk in relationship with him. If you want to overcome the childhood trauma wounds that are holding you back… If you want to develop your ability to trust God and begin thriving in the life he is calling you to live… This podcast is for you. Here you’ll receive trauma education to help identify and address the impacts of childhood trauma that keep you stuck. I’ll share mindset strategies and relational tips to help you develop your connection with others. There’ll be spiritual applications to help you deepen your trust and connection with God so you can gain clarity and discernment, as well as motivational stories for you to see that you can heal and thrive after childhood trauma. My healing journey involved recognizing the emotional, spiritual, social, and neurological wounds caused by trauma. I started a healing journey to address each area, and this resulted in freedom like I’ve never known. And I’m ready to share what I learned and experienced with you! We will approach trauma healing while walking together with God, The One who loves you most and wants you to heal and live an abundant life of joy, peace, and purpose. Today God is saying to you, his daughter… “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10. God’s got you, sister-friend, so let’s do this. Blessings and Love Jenniel 😊 Let’s Connect Email: support@shadesoftraumahealing.com ***DISCLAIMER: This podcast is not a substitute for individual coaching or therapy. Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽I’ll be talking about coping mechanisms today, but not just the ones that you consider to be "bad" or that go against your values or health principles.
I’ll be exploring how every day, even good activities, can be used as ways to self-soothe, distract and avoid the pain of trauma.
I’ll explain how to determine whether your behaviors are healthy or used as a coping mechanism, and I'll provide some ways to make more supportive and healthier choices.
I hope this episode blesses you.

55 | 6 Tips to Encourage Your Guy to Care for His Health
Thursday Jun 13, 2024
Thursday Jun 13, 2024
Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
In today’s episode I’m going to talk about something a little different, but it is still connected to our mental health as women. I decided to talk about this topic today as I was reflecting on how much I think about and pray for my family and friends.
I also realized this month is men’s health emphasis month and I know I’m not just concerned about my sisters health, I’m concerned about our brothers as well. I am sure it’s the same with you; you care about the physical and mental well-being of your husbands, fathers, brothers, sons, nephews, and male friends.
Their well-being also contributes to our sense of peace, so why not talk a little bit about their health?
Today, I’ll give you some quick reminders to help you help the men in your life become more aware of and take action to care for their health.
I hope this episode blesses you.

53 | How to Calm and Ground Yourself In under 5 Minutes
Thursday Jun 06, 2024
Thursday Jun 06, 2024
Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
On any given day, our nervous system goes through various states of activation. This is quite normal as we need to be flexible enough to move from a state of calm, to activated to calm or even from freeze to calm. At times, the system can move from calm to freeze or shut down, and you might find it difficult to navigate the changes.
Today I’ll share a simple exercise that you can apply at the first sign of activation to help you remain calm and connected to the present.
Best of all, you can do this in 5 minutes or less.
I hope this episode blesses you.

52 | How to Heal Complex PTSD as a Christian Woman
Monday Jun 03, 2024
Monday Jun 03, 2024
Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
This month, Mental Health America is highlighting the challenges of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Today, I will be doing the same from the lens of Childhood trauma and the Christian woman. I’ll share symptoms of PTSD, or PTS as it is now being called, the connection to childhood trauma and options for your healing.
Generally, PTSD is caused by a single traumatic event, like a car accident, assault, or natural disaster.
While C-PTSD is caused by repeated or prolonged trauma over a long period, often in childhood. This can include abuse, neglect, domestic violence, or living in a war zone.
Symptoms of C-PTSD can be intrusive and follow a survivor for a long time. In addition, there are unique challenges Christian women survivors face.We will explore all this today, as well as how to find healing.
I hope this episode blesses and inspires you.

Hey, Sister-friend 👋🏽
My guest today is Dr. Karen Liddell, an ordained minister, a licensed clinical pastoral counsellor with the National Christian Counselling Association, a success mindset coach, a best-selling author, and a speaker.
Karen became fascinated with the process of healing trauma to recover from her own past of childhood trauma which influenced her decision to engage in witchcraft and marry a narcissistic spouse.
As a trauma survivor, you do not have to keep living with the wounds of your past. You don’t have to settle for living a reactionary life.
Healing is possible, and today, Dr. Karen shares her amazing journey of moving from trauma to engaging scripture and biblically aligned science to retrain her brain, reclaim the truth of who God says she is and how she uses her knowledge and experience to help her clients heal.
I hope this episode blesses you.
