I’ve been there. Hey sister-friend 👋🏽 Welcome to the Shades of Trauma Healing Podcast. A space for Christian women of all beautiful shades to experience trauma healing, move beyond blocks and begin fully living the life God is calling them to live. I’m so glad you’re here 😊 I’m Jenniel, a dearly loved daughter of God, trauma thriver, trauma therapist, and life coach, living out my purpose. The impacts of my childhood trauma remained unaddressed for years. I struggled through life, feeling stuck, unsafe, sensitive to threats of danger, and emotionally disconnected from God and the people around me. I desperately wanted to know and live out my purpose but had difficulty hearing God and figuring it out. I pursued education, career goals, ministry, and travelled, trying to find my place and call in this world. I thought had to do more things, but no matter what I did, I still felt unsure of who I was and what I was meant to do. I finally realized that the key to becoming who God wanted me to be started with facing my trauma wounds and pursuing holistic healing so I could remove the obstacles that prevented me from hearing God and experiencing life fully. As I healed from the emotional and somatic impacts of childhood trauma, my relationship with God improved, and I gained clarity about who I am and who God wanted me to be. I began to thrive. Today, I’m the most emotionally and spiritually healthy version of myself. I’m embracing more joy and laughter, and I’m living God’s call on my life as I walk in relationship with him. If you want to overcome the childhood trauma wounds that are holding you back… If you want to develop your ability to trust God and begin thriving in the life he is calling you to live… This podcast is for you. Here you’ll receive 🌟Trauma education to help identify and address the impacts of childhood trauma that keep you stuck. 🌟Mindset strategies and relational tips to help you develop your connection with others. 🌟Spiritual applications to help you deepen your trust and connection with God so you can gain clarity and discernment 🌟Motivational stories from other survivors so you see that you can heal and thrive after childhood trauma. My healing journey led me to address the emotional, spiritual, social, and neurological impacts and wounds caused by trauma, and this resulted in freedom like I’ve never known. And I’d love to share what I learned and experienced with you! We will approach trauma healing while walking together with God, The One who loves you most and wants you to heal and live an abundant life of joy, peace, and purpose. Today God is saying to you, his daughter… “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10. God’s got you, sister-friend, so let’s do this. 09 | How to Deal with Anxiety as a Christian Woman
Monday Sep 11, 2023
Monday Sep 11, 2023
Meditating on God's word is a great way to deal with anxiety as a Christian woman. It is also important to know more about how anxiety develops in the body, because depending on the type of anxiety and the stage of the symptoms, there are additional strategies you can use.
Today I want to talk about the other side of treating anxiety. That is at the somatic or body level.
You will hear some of the common physical and psychological symptoms of anxiety and I will share the steps you need to take to identify how your body responds to your anxiety triggers.
I will also walk you through a body orienting exercise that you can practice to begin identifying your first signs of physical distress. Knowing what your body’s first signs are is key to managing and even preventing further anxiety symptoms from developing and leading to panic attacks.
Once you try the exercise, let me know what your experience was like.

08 | 4 P’s That Keep Christian Women From Seeking Trauma Healing
Monday Sep 04, 2023
Monday Sep 04, 2023
Hello Sister Friend,
Being stuck in the space of trauma wounds is painful, discouraging and, at times, debilitating. You know there is more to life, you want to experience healing and growth, but you find it difficult to take a step toward help. This is quite normal for trauma survivors. Moving forward requires support, courage, and faith.
In today’s episode, I talk about 4 reasons that keep Christian women from seeking out trauma healing, and if you can identify with any of the reasons, I have some quick tips for you. I also provide practical examples of how I addressed these reasons when they showed up in my life, and I hope it encourages you to explore how you, too can take your next step to get the healing you want and the life you desire.
If you have other reasons that keep you from seeking healing, send them to the email below. If I get responses with a common theme, I will do a part 2 of the show.
I pray this episode blesses you.
If you enjoyed the episode, it would bless me greatly if you head over to Apple Podcast and leave a review for the show.

07 | Three Healing Activities You Can Do for National Grief Awareness Day
Monday Aug 28, 2023
Monday Aug 28, 2023
Hey Sister-Friend,
Dealing with grief is tough. It takes so much energy to function with a heavy heart. Sometimes it is easier to keep busy and stay distracted. That may be helpful in the early stages of grief and useful as a way to function day-to-day, but the weight of the pain does not go away, and to begin experiencing healing, that grief must be named, addressed, and released.
This year, National Grief Awareness Day is on August 30th this year, and while we know grief is not confined to a day, on this day, people across the world are engaged in conversations about grief while creating space for those who are hurting and need to be heard.
In today’s episode, I will share some ways you can start sharing your grief and holding space for others who are also hurting. This supportive exchange can help you process what hurts you and make room for healing and joy.
The activities I mention include connecting and sharing your pain with God with examples from Psalms of lament, inviting a trusted friend to share with or for my introverted sisters, and personal self-care activities that would aid reflection and grief processing.
You will find this episode helpful if you struggle with hurts that are often too painful to talk about. You will walk away with different activities you can engage in to take one step closer to processing your pain.
I also provide an opportunity to connect with me and other women who are processing their grief so you do not feel alone in your experience.

Hey Sister-Friend,
How are you doing today? I hope you are well :-)
Today we will look at part 2 of the four pillars of trauma healing every Christian woman should know.
In part one (episode 5), I unpacked the first two pillars of trauma healing, which are:
Relational safety and preparation, and
Education and skills building
In this episode, I will discuss the last two pillars:
Desensitization and Integration
Prost traumatic growth and resilience.
Many trauma survivors know they want to heal but are unsure how the process would look. By sharing these foundations, it will provide some insight into what you can expect the trauma-healing journey to entail. Your exact process would be tailored and co-created between you and your chosen mental health professional. With the information in this episode, you can explore and discuss what would be helpful to your healing.
I hope you enjoy this episode and wish you every success in your trauma-healing journey.
Blessings and Love

Welcome back Sister-Friend,
Today we get to explore the foundations of trauma healing. In this episode, I will share the foundation that Christian women should base their healing on and how to build that foundation.
I talk about the first 2 pillars of trauma healing so you know what to look for and what to expect as you take (or consider taking) your first step toward healing.
Knowing the psychoeducation about how the traumatized body heals best gives hope to those seeking help.
The first two pillars will be discussed today and tune in next week for the last two pillars.
The foundation on which we build healing – as you may have guessed- is knowing God as he truly is and your identity in him. I will share tips on how you can become more grounded in both areas.
Pillar number 1 is relational safety and preparation. I will share why this is essential in trauma treatment.
The second pillar is education and skills building. It is also important to understand the biological and physiological impacts of trauma on the body and how the state of the body directly influences one’s behaviour and actions. This will help you let go of any guilt, shame or frustration around any responses to triggering events. Instead, you will gain a new understanding of how to work with your body before you reach a state of upset or dysregulation.
I enjoyed producing this episode and I hope you find it educational and helpful.
Blessings and Love

03 | 6 Strategies for Rebuilding Your Broken Walls
Monday Jul 31, 2023
Monday Jul 31, 2023
Hey Sister-friend,
If you are like me, you may enjoy watching home renovation shows. I like seeing old structures become new. I like the idea of taking broken things or projects that were done incorrectly or that were not safe and creating a house that is not only beautiful but safe and profitable - which will bring the new homeowner joy.
Trauma survivors also have rebuilding work to do as they seek to repair the broken areas of their lives.
In today’s episode, I explore 6 strategies you can use when pursuing your healing and rebuilding journey. The strategies are taken from the book of Nehemiah. I share how Nehemiah approached the task of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, and how he dealt with opposition and enemy attack.
I find these strategies very fitting for Christian women who may be facing opposition from spiritual or human elements in their trauma-healing journey and as they try to rebuild the broken areas of their lives.
Listen to the episode to hear how these strategies arose and how Nehemiah used them effectively.
As you consider starting or continuing your healing, I invite you to keep these strategies in your toolbelt, use them when needed, and keep moving forward until you are standing in freedom.
Blessings and Love
