I’m so glad you’re here 😊 I’m Jenniel, a dearly loved daughter of God, trauma thriver, trauma therapist, and life coach, living out my purpose. The impacts of my childhood trauma remained unaddressed for years. I struggled through life, feeling stuck, unsafe, sensitive to threats of danger, and emotionally disconnected from God and the people around me. I desperately wanted to know and live out my purpose but had difficulty hearing God and figuring it out. I pursued education, career goals, ministry, and travelled, trying to find my place and call in this world. I thought had to do more things, but no matter what I did, I still felt unsure of who I was and what I was meant to do. I finally realized that the key to becoming who God wanted me to be started with facing my trauma wounds and pursuing holistic healing so I could remove the obstacles that prevented me from hearing God and experiencing life fully. As I healed from the emotional and somatic impacts of childhood trauma, my relationship with God improved, and I gained clarity about who I am and who God wanted me to be. I began to thrive. Today, I’m the most emotionally and spiritually healthy version of myself. I’m embracing more joy and laughter, and I’m living God’s call on my life as I walk in relationship with him. I’m talking with trauma survivor Katy Parker today about her journey from unprocessed childhood trauma that was brought to light after an accident.
Following the accident, Katy was diagnosed with PTSD and had to learn to navigate a new reality. Her journey includes journaling during lockdown in hospital, grieving and facing the pain of the past, finding purpose in her pain and living with hope.
Today, Katy Parker is a well-being writer who integrates mental health and faith into her words. She is a mental health advocate and mentor who shares her journey of healing and hope on her Journeyofsmiley blog.
Katy believes that God left her in this world for a reason, and during her recovery, she created the PTSD: My Story Project, a safe space for trauma survivors to share their stories and let others know they aren't alone.
Her goal is to encourage and empower trauma survivors and support them on their healing journey. Katy believes that healing shouldn’t be a luxury and everyone deserves a chance to heal.

I also realized this month is men’s health emphasis month and I know I’m not just concerned about my sisters health, I’m concerned about our brothers as well. I am sure it’s the same with you; you care about the physical and mental well-being of your husbands, fathers, brothers, sons, nephews, and male friends.
Their well-being also contributes to our sense of peace, so why not talk a little bit about their health?
Today, I’ll give you some quick reminders to help you help the men in your life become more aware of and take action to care for their health.

On any given day, our nervous system goes through various states of activation. This is quite normal as we need to be flexible enough to move from a state of calm, to activated to calm or even from freeze to calm. At times, the system can move from calm to freeze or shut down, and you might find it difficult to navigate the changes.
Today I’ll share a simple exercise that you can apply at the first sign of activation to help you remain calm and connected to the present.
Best of all, you can do this in 5 minutes or less.

This month, Mental Health America is highlighting the challenges of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Today, I will be doing the same from the lens of Childhood trauma and the Christian woman. I’ll share symptoms of PTSD, or PTS as it is now being called, the connection to childhood trauma and options for your healing.
Generally, PTSD is caused by a single traumatic event, like a car accident, assault, or natural disaster.
While C-PTSD is caused by repeated or prolonged trauma over a long period, often in childhood. This can include abuse, neglect, domestic violence, or living in a war zone.
Symptoms of C-PTSD can be intrusive and follow a survivor for a long time. In addition, there are unique challenges Christian women survivors face.We will explore all this today, as well as how to find healing.
